Wholesale prices in the United States climbed more than forecast in June as the cost of fuel picked up.

Truck driver turnover rates fell to a four-year low in the first quarter among larger fleets and declined 12 percentage points at larger and smaller fleets alike, American Trucking Associations reported.

Marten Transport, Ltd., a refrigerated carrier, raised second quarter net income more than 6% to $8.4 million, or 25 cents per share, driven by continued growth in dedicated freight business.

In the latest of a series of recent worker-status rulings, a federal appeals court upheld a Kansas Supreme Court decision last year that classified about 500 FedEx Ground drivers as employees rather than independent contractors under that state's law.

Sales at U.S. retailers unexpectedly dropped in June, curbing optimism about the strength of the rebound in consumer spending during the second quarter.
