Navistar Defense Wins $369 Million US Army Contract
Navistar Defense, a unit of truck maker Navistar International Corp., said it won a $369-million contract from the U.S. Army Contracting Command to build 2,293 medium tactical vehicles for the Afghanistan National Security Force.
Rail Trade Group Changes Name, Strategy
The Consumers United for Rail Equity trade group, which has been lobbying for changes in rail pricing and service for more than three decades, has been renamed the Freight Rail Customer Alliance in an effort to broaden its membership and focus.
Inventories Limit Freight Shipping, Expenditures
North American shipping activity declined 4.6% year-over-year in August, according to the Cass Freight Index, a measure of shipping activity in trucking and other modes of transportation, but it was not unexpected as manufacturing numbers also fell off.
